The doc just left us and said that everything went as well as could possibly be expected. He was able to save all the nerves and one extra blood vessel than he had expected. There is so much to explain, and I will try to say what I can soon when I have a real keyboard. Steven will be in the icu tonight just to have extra monitoring. Doc feeling really good about everything, so are we. We are so grateful for his amazing work and care. Thanks to all you-- I really felt all your love and support.

  5. Wow...what a relief! I am so glad it went well. I've been anxious all day wondering how it was going, wondering how you and your husband were filling the very long hours of waiting. Now comes the hard part...or was that the hard part? It's all hard but you are handling it with such grace, hope and faith! Keep on keepin on...The prayers continue from our corner of the world!

  6. What an amazing surgery. Kari and I talked about it at length last night, and with our limited anatomical knowledge, we just can't figure how in the world a surgeon could do this. What a miracle!

  7. Steven made a decision not chosen by many, but only those brave and courageous enough to accept new possibilities! He is going to be a remarkable man someday! As the Robert Frost poem goes,
"I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Steven has been in our prayers each and every day since we first heard about his prospective surgery in March. We have regularly checked with Greg & Alison on Steven's progress and are are thankful the surgery went well--you were in our thoughts and prayers all day. There are hundreds praying for him--even people he doesn't know. Please tell Steven we think he is one of the bravest boys we know!
    Much love,
Rod & Lisa Ellis and family
